Computer Hell and Aussie Meat Pies - It’s a Strange Life

Vegan Nation, The Stylish One has been away. Far away, in a burning inferno known as Small Business Server Remote Printer Setup Hell! Holy shit! Two days have been consumed by the irritating pursuit of convincing our business server in Minneapolis to print locally on the new HP LaserJet here in Seattle. Maybe it was the subzero temps back in the Middle West or maybe just my SBS illiteracy. Whatever, it was like sticking 3-inch pins into my gorgeous eyeballs nonstop.
But alas, veganistos, problemo solved and back on the TSV stylin’ track! I missed all you darlings so! Ok, so here’s the gig: we’re talking food today. Not just any food but Down Under cuisine, the hot dog of Australia, the meat pie. “Why, oh dear One, are you talking about Aussie meat pies on your fab fashion-forward site?” A fair question indeed, vegheads. Please, allow me to address that.

The Vegan Nation is well aware of TSV’s fondness of tennis; especially majors or slams, as they like to say in the tennis in-crowd. And as is always the case in mid January, it’s time for the Australian Open. MSV and myself love it even if Dick Enberg is really, really creepy. As we all know, as well, the Open ends with the celebration of Australia Day. And that brings us to meat pies.
TSV and MSV have been invited a celebration of this day that I know nothing about on the upcoming weekend. With meat pies on the menu, is there any chance of a vegan version. Well, here in Seattle, veganistos, you don’t have a whole lot of purveyors of Aussie meat pies. As a matter of fact, there’s one: The Australian Meat Pie Company. The good news, there’s a vegetable pie in the offerings. The bad news, the veggie pie isn’t vegetarian. Now what’s a Aussie Day party-going vegan to do?
Simple. Email Angus, the fine proprietor and creator of these wonders, and ax why the veggie pie ain’t really veggie. Response: It is. Angus has been so busy making pies, he hasn’t had time to tweak the site. The veg pie is now totally veggie - but is it vegan? Oddly enough, the crust has always been vegan - who knew? So now, The Stylish Vegan can actually partake in the wiener of Aussie Land. Truly fabulistic, kids!
The lesson: always ask, always. Wherever you go, inquire about the vegan version. As TSV has always stressed, if you look nice and ask politely, odds are you’ll get that vegan dish just about anywhere. Just don’t be a dick. Ever. It hurts your immediate cause and sets all of us dandy vegans back.
Tonight’s VegNews Celeb of the Day, as brought to you by ecorazzi.com, the far-from-being-vegan site that VegNews is obsessed with; we give you another jackass.

Can someone please make him go away? Please? Hey, ecorazzi, here’s one we can agree on mutually despising.
